The Legends Reno-Tahoe Open Draws Unisex Players

The buzz is rising with the annual Legends Reno-Tahoe Open golf tournament nested in the luxury Montreux subdivision in south Reno. David Duval, the former #1 ranked PGA tour golfer, is making this tournament one of his comeback tour stops today. With 13 tour victories and over $16 million earned in winnings, Duval is primed to tune up his game here as it was a few years ago when he was the top PGA tour player.

Also creating a stir in the local media is the appearance of Michelle Wie, who has entered this Reno PGA Tournament through a sponsorship exemption. Some of the talk surrounding Wie’s appearance has come from Annika Sorenstam, who stated that, “…if Wie can’t qualify for a women’s major tournament, she has no business playing with the men.” And, there are several participants that are sounding off in the same tone. Beyond all the talk though, is the competition on a very challenging golf course, with a setting in the beautiful southwestern part of Reno amongst the Montreux golf course homes. Local PGA pro Scott McCarron stated that the Montreux Golf Course is in the best condition that he has ever seen.

Tee times begin at 7:00 AM today through Sunday. Parking for the public is available off of Mt Rose Highway across from Wedge Parkway, with the lot opening at 7:00 AM, and shuttles to the golf course approximately every 15-20 minutes. Shuttle fee is $5 per vehicle.
