I just got an email from Greg Raleigh, the membership director at Somersett Country Club in Northwest Reno.  They’ve just rolled out a preview Somersett Golf membership that I think is definitely worth checking out.

The basic details are:

1 time cost of $1,250.  If you decide to become an equity Somersett Golf member at the end of your preview Somersett membership, this is applied to that cost.

Your membership starts the day you enroll/pay your $1,250.  It’s a full family membership and includes access to all Somersett Golf Course events.

No monthly dues until April 2009.  And right now, dues are only $340/month.

Your membership is good through April 2010.

What it looks like to me is that you get 19 months of membership for only 13 months of dues.  True, the six free months are during the winter, but most winters you can get plenty of time in on the course.  Of course, now that I’ve said that, we’ll probably get the snowiest winter we’ve had in a while, but in the greater scheme of things, that wouldn’t be such a bad thing either.

So basically, if you’ve ever thought about membership at Somersett, or at any private golf club in Reno for that matter, this is a great way to take a “test drive.”  This would be a great addition to a purchase of a Somersett new home or a Somersett home that is a resale.

As a member for over 3 years now, I can tell you that Somersett Golf is fantastic.  The pros and staff are super friendly, the course is in great shape and the membership is young and energetic.  True, we have our fair share of windy days, but seriously, doesn’t every golf course in Reno?
